Trail, Tales and Tours …

 Take a Hike!

The Prairie Spirit Trail passes through the communities  (incorporated and
un-incorporated) of Scipio, Garnett, Welda, and soon to be open to Colony, on its way from Ottawa to Iola.  The Prairie Spirit Trail currently spans 33-miles.  Opening this summer will be phase 3, making the trail longer than 50 miles.

The asphalt pathway with ornamental lighting through Garnett links the North Lake Park through the city’s town square to Veterans Memorial Park (a/k/a Crystal  or South Lake).  The renovated Santa Fe Depot serves as a trailhead, providing restrooms, railroad memorabilia and visitor information.

Enjoy great the great Kansas landscape via what was once the Santa Fe Railroad by trekking Kansas’ first rail-trail project.  For more information please visit the Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail website: www.prairiespirittrail.org
