Cruise the historic race course…

Nine Lake Garnett Grand Prix Sports Car Races were held between 1959 and 1972 on the 2.8-mile “true-road” course surrounding the city lake.  The national races brought the media and thousands of spectators to Garnett.  The largest race ever held in 1963 was estimated at 75,000 people.

Today, the road course is used for Kart races, whose speeds are in excess of 100 mph. The road is open to the public unless closed specifically for special events.
